Sta Rita Orphanage Gift Giving
On December 17, 2009, a group of South City Central School students and teachers visited the St. Rita Orphanage to give the children presents and medicines. We brought along with us Bea, Nicole, Halle, Yoshu, Sachi, and Grace. Here were the teachers- Principal Romero, Teacher Beatrice, Teacher Ria, and Mrs. Dato.
St. Rita Orphanage is located inside the St. Rita College which is along Sucat Road. The first children we gave presents to were four small boys around the age of 1-3 years old. One of the boys was named Ramil, and he was so sweet. All of them were.
We played with the kids and opened their presents with them. After spending time with the children, we next visited the toddlers. The toddlers were located on the second floor of the house in an air-conditioned room filled with cribs.
We were expecting the room to be noisy filled with crying babies, but what we saw before our eyes was totally the opposite. The room was quite with not even one baby crying. The babies were so well behaved! On the top shelf there was a television playing Dora the Explorer.
We loved all of them in just a few minutes. They were in the age range of 3 months- 1 year and 2 months old. The first babies we saw were only 3 months old and they were so healthy! There was not one baby that was thin. We went around the room carrying the babies and making them laugh. Some of these babies are already going to other countries. St. Rita Orphanage has already had a lot of adoptions, and most of their adoptions are from foreigners. From Belgium, to France, to America, to Australia- these are the destinations of the babies in this orphanage.
When it was finally time to leave, the babies did not want to let go of us. Bea held a baby girl named Mira who cried every time she was placed back to her crib. She would literary grab her shirt just to make her stay. The same situation happened to Yoshu with a Chinese baby girl who would cry every time she was placed down.
It was in the good byes that we all got teary eyed. For sure, there are going to be more visits in the future for these wonderful children. We know that these kids will have a good future and wonderful lives ahead of them.
